All black to women equals fashionable. All black to men equals funeral. It is so funny how different people see trends differently. I literally had a male coworker ask me if I was in mourning and that is why I was wearing all black. I promptly told him no and that I just felt edgy that day (also it was raining, so perhaps my mood was a bit influenced by the first rainfall of what felt like months). I used to have to wear all black at my very first job and I hated it. I always wanted to wear color (some things never change, huh?) and thought black was all boring. While I still prefer to live life on the brighter side, I now see all black as fashion-forward, slimming, trendy, and timeless. If you don’t know what to wear in the morning but need to look good, you can throw on all black and (most) people won’t question.
I’ve had this leather skirt for about 2 years now (I picked up on major sale at Nordstrom) and I cannot imagine my life without it (okay okay, that is a bit exaggerated). It is the perfect combination of business and trendy, it is comfortable, it fits well, and it is a timeless piece that will never go out of style. I am so excited to see all of the leather that is back on trend for Fall/Winter 2014 and it is my mission this year to find the perfect leather jacket to add to my wardrobe (along with a new winter coat, but that can wait a month or two). I’ve also had these tights for a few years now and love the intricate pattern of them. They are so beautiful and the perfect tight to add when you want to have a bit of edge or sassiness to an outfit.
I recently picked up this gem from Baublebar and I absolutely love it. It was the perfect touch of femininity to add to the all black outfit. I love this necklace because it is so versatile – it can be worn dressed up to work or a wedding, or dressed down for happy hour or casual Friday with a t-shirt. It makes everything girly and sparkly, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a bit of pave “diamonds” in their life?
This was my first dark/”fall” manicure (I posted a photo on my Instagram) and I forgot how much I love dark colors on my nails. I don’t think I’ll be wearing pastels anytime soon. This is Essie’s “Sexy Divide” and it’s the perfect medium royal purple with a hint of sparkle. It is deep, but it’s not so deep that it looks black except for in natural light. I do love those colors, but I think this is a great way to transition into those from the summer time.
I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday and see you with my next post! xo
