New Years Day Sparkle

Happy 2nd day of 2013! I hope you all had a wonderful New Years Eve and New Years Day. I had a rather relaxing couple of days, with a drive back to Seattle from Portland, hanging out at the apartment with a few friends to watch the countdown, and a day full of video-watching and kitten-cuddling. My hair decided to go to a bit of a side part yesterday when I snapped these photos, and it reminds me of high school and early college when I used to have a ridiculously deep side part and bangs in my hair. Oh, the good ol’ days.

These are the first photos on the blog with my new camera! I am so incredibly excited about this, quality is going to be amazing from here-on-out, and you can expect some videos from me too in much higher quality (one perhaps coming at the end of this week). The camera that I got for Christmas was the Canon T4i with the 18-135mm STM Kit Lens. I also got along with it the  Canon 40mm EF f/2.8 STM Lens. These lenses are Canon’s new stepping motor line, which autofocus silently during video mode. I cannot wait to play around with these both for videos. The lens I purchased myself separately (and the lens that took these photos) was on recommendation from Laura of Buy Now Blog Later, and the lens is the Canon 85mm f/1.8 Lens. This lens is absolutely STUNNING and amazing. I am so incredibly excited about this, and when I saw Laura’s photos I knew that was the exact lens that I was looking for. It produces perfect background blur, but gets everything else in amazing clear focus. If you are looking for a great portrait lens for personal style blogging, I highly recommend this one. The boyfriend and I have been playing around with it for a few days now, and I am more than pleased with it. Of course, I still need to play around with it to learn more about it, but so far I love it.

Incase you were wondering, yes I was freezing. The boyfriend and I took these photos yesterday on New Years Day so of course I had to rep some sparkle, but it was about 36-40 degrees here in lovely Seattle, Washington. He was bundled up in a puffer jacket, while I’m standing there bare-legged and coatless. However, these photos are beautiful and totally worth me freezing for :)

I hope you enjoyed this post, and the higher-quality photos. Keep an eye out for a new post on Thursday, and a new video with some winter outfit pairings this weekend! Thanks so much for supporting me, let’s make amazing things happen in 2013. xoxo

I'm a 20-something fashion blogger who loves to put together outfits. Living in Seattle, I have a fun style of classic prep meets masculine twist. I have a hardcore handbag and nail polish addiction, and I have a big heart. My style icons are Nicole Richie and Lauren Conrad, and I’d rather Balayage than Foil my hair (mainly because Balayage is so much more fun to say). Look around, and enjoy!
